中新社北京五月十三日电 (记者孙自法)中国地震台网中心总工程师刘瑞丰研究员十三日向媒体介绍说，四川汶川大地震整个地下断层长度三百多公里，断层为单侧破裂，并从起始点的震中汶川开始向东北方向延伸，汶川、北川两地破坏严重。





　　他说，地震断层长度即地壳破裂长度，有的表现为地面裂缝，有的在地面上看不出来，断层为一个破裂面，一般由震中往一个方向破裂，单侧破裂就是破裂面朝一侧破裂。

　　截至十四时零五分，汶川大地震发生六点零至六点九级余震两次，五点零至五点九级余震十四次，有记录的余震一千九百五十五次。由于本次地震处于地震带上，余震较多，震中又处在人口稠密地区，破坏性强。中国地震局本次启动一级应急预案，是最高级别的应急响应，其反应时间、速度、规模、人员、设备都是最高的。

　　四川省内有七个国家地震台站，四十五个区域台站，汶川七点八级大地震发生后，中国地震台网中心三分钟上报初步结果、十分钟就出正式结果，数字化地震台网在本次地震监测中发挥出重要作用，“这在模拟时代不可想像，当年唐山大地震时，四、五个小时还找不到震中位置”。

　　刘瑞丰研究员表示，汶川大地震后，中国地震台网中心时刻监测、密切关注震区余震等情况，为灾区地震发展趋势研判和一线开展抗震救灾工作提供监测数据。

昨日记者从中国地震台网中心获悉，截至13日17时，汶川地区共发生Ms4.0级以上余震39次，最大余震震级为Ms6.1。

　　专家表示，事发后24小时的“黄金时期”，或情况良好或许可延长至72小时，是灾民生还最重要的一段时间。

　　在汶川地震发生后，中国地震局曾将地震定级从7.6级修订为7.8级，中国地震台网中心首席预报员孙士鋐解释说，“从目前情况看，不排除下一步继续修订官方数据的可能性。

　　余震将持续1～2个月

　　谈到汶川大地震的主要原因，孙士鋐说，关于地震成因，学术界较普遍的说法是地球内部动力的释放，但地震真正的机理还没真正弄清。对于汶川地震，中国地震局专家普遍认为是板块逆冲引起，而不是板块走滑，如3月份新疆玉田地震属于走滑，即土地沿着破裂的断层滑动，能量释放比较彻底，余震较少。而逆冲则能量释放不彻底，地震衰竭速度较慢，往往有持续1～2个月的余震期。

　　震中将向西北方向挺进

　　“未来持续发生五六级或6级以上的余震会较多，并且完全可能。”

　　在地震发展的地理走向上，孙士鋐表示，“国家地震局研究认为，此次地震与唐山地震类似，走向靠近西北方向，震源中心变化地区大概在120～130公里范围内。”

　　次生灾害会有联动效应

　　“灾害是具有链条伴生效应的，有学者分析，唐山地震前，台风路径因地震发生改变，缅甸飓风的路径在地震前也发生突然改变，包括地震之前淮河流域水流改变。这些灾害现象，有专家认为与汶川地震具有一定联系。”

　　孙士鋐认为，此次灾情发展很可能会引发诸多次生灾害，比如地震造成的河流断层，很可能形成新的汛情，地震伴生泥石流现象已经出现，地震对与汶川相邻的卧龙自然保护区内大熊猫的习性和食物的影响，从1933年发生在四川茂县7.5级地震的经验上看，这些因素都可能存在。

　　对广东港澳地区影响不大

　　专家指出，随着时间一天天流逝，灾民生还的几率急速下降。

　　亲身经历过天然灾害的人表示，除非受灾者仅受轻伤、身处温暖的空间及可以呼吸到新鲜空气，或许再有一些水可喝，否则不可能在瓦砾堆中生存。

　　专家表示，事发后24小时的“黄金时期”，如情况良好或许可延长至72小时，是最重要的一段时间。

　　另外，孙士鋐认为，此次地震对南方地区，特别是对广东及港澳地区的影响不大，破坏力度仅为2度，而汶川地震震中已经达到10度。

　　民政部副部长罗平飞13日在国新办举行的新闻发布会上表示,此次四川省汶川县地震灾害主要有以下五个特点:

　　一是强度大,波及面广,破坏力强。此次汶川地震是我国大陆内部地震,属于浅源地震,破坏力度较大。

　　二是震中位于地震高发区。有地震记载以来,此次震中附近200公里范围内发生过8次7级以上地震。

　　三是灾区建筑抗震能力较弱。震中汶川县有羌族人口2.9万人。羌族房屋结构为石砌墙体或夯土板筑墙体,防震性能差。

　　四是学校、医院等公共场所人员伤亡情况严重。

　　五是抗震救灾难度大。震中汶川县海拔1325米,地形复杂、交通不便,震后道路、通信中断,灾区近日又多阵雨天气,给灾区工作造成很大的困难。

新华网北京5月13日电（记者于文静）据国家林业局最新消息，卧龙自然保护区管理局办公室在与外界通信中断约30小时后，终于与四川省林业厅通过卫星电话取得联系，称其饲养繁育的86只大熊猫无伤亡，幼仔已被全部转移至地势开阔安全的沙湾。





　　截至目前，四川汶川地震涉及到的中国（卧龙）保护大熊猫研究中心、成都大熊猫繁育研究基地、陕西省珍稀野生动物抢救饲养研究中心等中国三大大熊猫饲养繁育基地共144只大熊猫均无伤亡。

　　记者从国家林业局了解到，中国野生大熊猫有1590多只，分布在四川、陕西、甘肃三省。其中，四川省1200多只，约占75％；陕西省270多只，约占17％；甘肃省110多只，约占7％。这些大熊猫主体分布在62个自然保护区中。在这次地震中，三省野生大熊猫栖息地受到不同程度的波及，野生大熊猫状况尚待观察。

　　国家林业局要求各大熊猫饲养繁殖基地加强对震后设施设备的安全检查和修缮加固，防止余震等对工作人员和大熊猫造成伤害；各保护区要在及时妥善救治受伤人员的同时，重视野外大熊猫情况的观测，发现伤病大熊猫应及时实施救助。

三大台商共捐四川地震救灾款高达2.1亿人民币

Chinese President Hu Jintao and his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush held a telephone conversation Tuesday, during which they discussed the latest massive earthquake in southwest China, bilateral ties and Tibet.

Bush said the United States expressed deep concerns over the quake in Sichuan province and sympathy toward the Chinese people, and is willing to provide any possible assistance for disaster relief.

Hu extended his thanks to Bush, adding that the Chinese people feel deeply sorrowful about the loss of lives of their compatriots in the strong quake.

The Chinese government is sparing no efforts in disaster relief, rescuing the injured, properly arranging the daily life of the people in the disaster areas so that social order there can be restored as soon as possible, Hu said.

A 7.8-magnitude quake rocked Wenchuan county, 159 km northwest of the Sichuan province's capital of Chengdu, at 2:28 p.m. (0628 GMT) Monday, killing thousands of people in eight affected provinces.

Hu said China-U.S. ties, under the joint efforts of both sides, have moved forward continuously in recent years.

The leaderships of the two countries and officials at other levels have carried out frequent visits, while exchanges and cooperation in various fields have made progress, he added.

Hu expressed hope that the fourth-round China-U.S. strategic economic dialogue next month in Washington will produce positive results.

"I would like to, together with President Bush, make the China-U.S. constructive and cooperative ties develop in a continuous, healthy and steady way," he said,

Hu also outlined China's stance on the Tibet issue. He said the Tibet issue is one of China's internal affairs, and affects the feelings of the Chinese people.

We hope the U.S. side would tackle related issues with an objective and fair-minded attitude and in a cautious and proper way, and understand and support China's justified stance, Hu added.

Hu and Bush also expressed their expectation toward their meetings at the dialogue between G8 and some developing countries in Japan's Hokkaido in July as well as during the Beijing Olympic Games in August.

“那4个娃儿真的都活了吗？昨天晚上就听说有个老师救了４个娃儿，我哪知道就是你……”张关蓉扑到丈夫的遗体上放声恸哭。
　　“我们发现他的时候，他双臂张开着趴在课桌上，身下还死死地护着4个学生”

　　深夜的四川德阳市汉旺镇，冷雨凄厉，悲声四起，呼啸而过的救护车最能给人带来慰藉，那意味着又有一个生命在奔向希望。

　　５月１３日２３时５０分，救护车的鸣笛声响彻汉旺镇――中国地震应急搜救中心的救援人员在德阳市东汽中学的坍塌教学楼里连续救出了４个学生。

　　“我侄女是高二（1）班的学生，要不是有他们老师在上面护着，这４个娃儿一个也活不了！”被救女生刘红丽的舅舅对记者说。

　　“那个老师呢？”

　　“唉……他可是个大好人，大英雄噢！”说着，刘红丽舅舅的眼圈红了。他告诉记者，那是一位男老师，快５０岁了。

　　１4日一早，设在学校操场上的临时停尸场上，记者从工作人员手中的遗体登记册里查到了这位英雄教师的名字――谭千秋。他的遗体是１３日２２时１２分从废墟中扒出来的。

　　“我们发现他的时候，他双臂张开着趴在课桌上，身下还死死地护着4个学生，4个学生都活了！”一位救援人员向记者描述着当时的场景。

　　“在我们学校的老师里，他是最心疼学生的一个”

　　谭老师的妻子张关蓉正在仔细地擦拭着丈夫的遗体：脸上的每一粒沙尘都被轻轻拭去；细细梳理蓬乱的头发，梳成他生前习惯的发型。谭老师的后脑被楼板砸得深凹下去……

　　当张关蓉拉起谭千秋的手臂，要给他擦去血迹时，丈夫僵硬的手指再次触痛了她的神经：“昨天抬过来还是软软的，现在咋就变得这么硬啊！”张关蓉轻揉着丈夫的手臂，恸哭失声……

　　就是这双曾传播无数知识的手臂，在地震发生的一瞬间从死神手中夺回了4个年轻的生命，手臂上的伤痕清晰地记录下了这一切！

　　“那天早上他还跟平常一样，６点就起来了，给我们的小女儿洗漱穿戴好，带着她出去散步，然后早早地赶到学校上班了。这一走就再也没回。女儿还在家里喊着爸爸啊！”张关蓉泣不成声。

　　“谭老师是我们学校的教导主任，兼着高二和高三年级的政治课。”陪着张关蓉守在谭老师遗体旁的同事夏开秀老师说，“在我们学校的老师里，他是最心疼学生的一个，走在校园里的时候，远远地看到地上有一块小石头他都要走过去捡走，怕学生们玩耍的时候受伤。”

　　操场上，学生家长按当地习俗为谭老师燃起了一串鞭炮……

A massive earthquake, registering at 7.8 on the Richter scale, hammered southwest China's Sichuan Province at 2:28pm on Monday. The high magnitude tremors rippled from the mountainous county of Wenchuan, but were felt in many other parts of the country.

The disaster had caused more than 12,000 reported deaths by Tuesday evening in Sichuan alone, and the death toll is likely to rise with rescuers struggling to reach some of the hardest-hit areas. About 3.5 million homes were destroyed in Sichuan, with more than 26,000 injured, 7,800 missing and more than 9,400 trapped beneath debris.

Indeed, we cannot retrieve the disastrous loss, but we have been moved to tears by the scenes of Chinese people of one mind in the struggle against the disaster and united as one in the rescue work. In the most agonizing two days gone by, every Chinese has been moved and encouraged by the strength of their national spirit which is forged in the countless heart- stirring and tear-jerking stories:

China's response to Monday's quake has been reported the most efficient in dealing with breaking events as the state media frequently updates casualty tolls and with the rapid deployment of troops to the worst-hit areas. President Hu Jintao issued instructions calling to save lives at any cost within half an hour following the tremors; and the related governmental departments launched emergencies plan in succession immediately thereafter.

Premier Wen Jiabao shed tears. A netizen from the quake-hit region posted a message on Tianya website saying that if you happened to see him at this spot and at this moment, you could not refrain from tears. The Premier, in his sixties and acting as the Commander-in-chief in rescue operations, immediately set out to the worst-hit areas and worked his way there overnight in spite of potential aftershocks. When he witnessed two school children trapped beneath rubble being rescued, tears streamed down his face. He constantly comforted and encouraged them during the rescue process.

"We will put our best efforts forward to save all those alive who can be saved," he said. "This disaster has all tested us. We all have to come together and have confidence and push forward."

Hundreds of soldiers and disaster relief workers descended on the epicenter of Wenchuan County, many of them digging by hand. More than 70 percent of the town's roads were damaged, and almost all bridges had collapsed, which complicated efforts to get troops and aid workers to the disaster-stricken area. In Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, over 500 aftershocks rattled the city, driving more than 4 million people out of their homes. This was a sleepless night for Chengdu: in the street, survivors lined up to donate blood and remained calm while appearing "extremely tired."

Hundreds of taxi drivers volunteered to deliver emergency light to the city of Du Jiangyan, one of the hardest-hit areas in Sichuan. Nobody ordered them to do so, and nobody would pay them; but these drivers, usually branded as price-gougers, would rather risk their own lives to offer humanitarian help.

Facing the unexpected disaster, shock and fear have gradually faded into great perseverance and combative strength. This is a nation which has survived thousands of years of pain and suffering; and has yet to yield to a harsh blow.

On any website message board, you can find three days of heartfelt wishes from across China to the quake-stricken people: You are not alone, and we will always be around.

Under the banner of "We are together" all the Chinese will stand hand in hand against the hardships, and fight shoulder to shoulder against the disaster.

四川汶川县发生7.8级地震，地震灾情严重，居民房屋倒塌，人员伤亡严重逾超过四位数。这样的重大事件除掉政府的及时反应之外，同时也需要社会各界的多方共同的支援。很多企业都在事件发生后快速反应，向灾区伸出了援助之手。据悉，截至到5月14日为止，最新的企业捐款金额已经超过16个亿，捐款过千万的企业已经超过40个，目前捐款的最高金额是来自台湾台塑集团捐款的1亿元人民币，而国内的很多企业都纷纷慷慨解囊，国内的企业占据了大多数，分别来自电子产品、金融等多个行业，互联网企业包括新浪搜狐腾讯等企业也第一时间不仅自己捐款，也发起了组织捐款活动，目前，很多企业的捐助行动仍在持续中。

　　中央决定,总理温家宝任汶川大地震抗震救灾指挥部总指挥。受命前驱,地震发生后不到七个小时,他的脚印落在灾情最严重的角落。　　

　　从成都机场直奔都江堰市,余震不断,温家宝披星戴月,冒雨前行,赶到聚源中学废墟现场。这个令人悲恸的夜晚,总理弓着身子,从断瓦残垣里扒出孩子的书包和鞋子,双眼湿润。近两个小时,他滴水未进,婉拒工作人员递来的饼干,忘记头顶需要雨伞的擎盖,兀自朝着灾情最严重、灾民最困顿的地方走去。

　　昨天上午,在都江堰召开国务院抗震救灾指挥部会议上,温家宝习惯性地皱下眉头,张开紧抿的干涩嘴唇:“只要有一丝希望,我们就要尽百分之百的努力!”他果断有力地说,“你们(部队)今晚12点以前必须开出一条通往汶川的路来!”

　　来到都江堰新建小学,当总理看到抢险人员正在解救两名被困在废墟下的孩子时,激动地流下了热泪。“我是温家宝爷爷,孩子们一定要挺住,一定会得救!”

　　大雨与泪水冲刷着人心。

　　紧接着,温家宝又赶到了德阳。他一次次地走进了受灾最严重的地区仔细察看,一次次发出坚定的声音:“时间就是生命!全力以赴抓紧时间救人!房子裂了、塌了,我们还可以再修。只要人在,我们就一定能够渡过难关,战胜这场重大自然灾害。”　　

　　衙前卧听萧萧竹,疑是民间疾苦声。那个泪汪汪的孩子似乎在用眼神向总理传递着什么——中国不“哭”。周遭的风声雨声嘈杂声也仿佛适时地戛然而止,湮没在黑夜的光明里……

Yes, Karen's idea is really a brilliant one. I think it will be more suitable & meaningful for both kids and parents, every aution, big or small, is transmitting our love and supports for those people they are suffering now!

Hi Jane I have about 20 wrapped gifts that are labeled Male, Female, Child or Anyone.  The childrens are about 6 rmb and the adults start at 15 and go up to 40 rmb.  I hope that people will pay way more for them so that alot of money will be collected for the quake surviviors.  So just lay them on the table and tape down a piece of lined paper under them so that people can write their names and their bid amount.  Hopefully the large one will bring in 100 rmb or more.  The prices that are marked are what they cost me to purchase. It is a disaster to us, we couldn't imagine what happened. When I watched TV, read newspaper, access to Internet, the information is everywhere, it is a nightmare. The confirmed death toll in Sichuan rose to 19,500 by 4pm Thursday, three days after Monday's quake. And it is on the rise! God bless them!

I'm thinking to organize a charity donation which will keep Friday's donation going in Saturday evening. It will be involved in money donation and nice things aution, it means people can bring some things to sell in English corner and the money will be donated to the cause. I will discuss the details with our parents and  friends tomorrow evening in Cite Cafe to put it in action.

　　地震带来的影响还在继续，从5月13日中心工作人员主动申请向灾区捐款捐物后，截至5月14日下午，来自中国女排，中国男排，排球管理中心以及亚排联工作人员的个人捐款总计25.34万元。

　　另外，身在美国的郎平也委托家人送来捐款送上一份爱心。她在自己的博客中这样写道：“四川地震已经两天了，我一有空就上网看看新闻，看到上网数字仍然不断上涨，还有同胞被埋在瓦砾之下，心里真的很难过。远在千里之外的美国，想为受灾的同袍做点事并不容易。昨天打电话给洛杉矶，丹佛的朋友，听说那里的华人将组织捐款，我跟他们表示，捐款时叫我，算我一个”！
